Did you know Backer Marathon’s nine-day lead time is at the forefront of the heating and sensor industry? How can we make and ship custom process heaters and thermocouples in nine days? Spoiler alert: It’s through a combo of hard work, precision, and great systems that have taken nearly three decades to perfect.

- Request Received

- Initial BOM, Issue Isolation and Resolution
Our inside sales team enters the specifications into our proprietary computer system to build an initial pricing bill of materials (BOM). The team reviews the design for potential problems. If problems are found, we isolate the issue(s), the requestor is contacted immediately, and one of our highly experienced technical experts offers suggestions to adjust the design.
- Quote Sent
We then send you the quote. It’s a simple step.
- PO Processing
We receive the purchase order and send it to the orders team. This team completes the Backer Marathon system materials and BOM review to ensure all materials are available prior to accepting and confirming the purchase order. If all materials are on hand, we send an acknowledgement.
- The BOM Build
The product category design team receives the order and builds the formal BOM, and creates a traveler packet/work instructions.
- Setting the Schedule
The product category cell team lead receives the order, reviews the schedule, and sets priorities (standard/expedites—how many days), and reports the information back.
- Production Time!
Production begins on the components.
- Quality Inspections
The quality inspections team checks the components at various points of the process and, of course, upon completion.
- Packing Prep
The finished and inspected parts are sent to packing for preparation—bag and tag!
- Shipping
Shipping is arranged and Backer Marathon waves goodbye to another successfully completed order.
- Tracking Your Delivery
You then receive the tracking number for your order, so you know when to expect the custom heaters and sensors made to your specifications. This wraps up the nine-day processing time for every order we complete.
